What do VS, VSOP, and XO mean on cognac labels?
These designations indicate minimum aging: VS (Very Special) is aged at least 2 years, VSOP (Very Superior Old Pale) at least 4 years, and XO (Extra Old) at least 10 years. Many producers age well beyond the minimums.
Can I find small-producer cognacs in North Carolina?
Yes. Dorado Rock specializes in representing craft and boutique cognac producers that offer alternatives to the major houses. These are available through NC ABC special orders.
How should cognac be served?
